Hello! Welcome to my new blog, STEM Spark! Thank you for virtually being a part of the launch for STEM Spark! I'm Suzie Olsen, engineer, author/writer, mother (of humans, not dragons), wife, lover of pun jokes, and so on. While I'm not new to the blog-o-sphere (https://momeezee.blogspot.com/), this blog is a new platform for me to focus on everything in my life that is science, technology, engineering, and math. Hence the STEM part in STEM Spark. I'll be writing about what it's like to be an engineer and my day to day work/upcoming projects, fun STEM experiments and activities, interviews and guest blog spots from cool STEM professionals, reviews of STEM books, toys, and products, and not to mention free downloads and giveaways!
The spark (see what I did there; insert your groan here), aka name, for this blog came from watching my three year old as he explored the world around him with awe and curiosity. To me, STEM is one of the best ways to spark curiosity and awe in children (and in us). So the name STEM Spark was forthright born. My hope is that STEM Spark ignites the spark that lays in all children-- that lays in us all. At the end of the day, this blog is about having a good time while exploring STEM!
